L-TEC Premium Stringing System

L-TEC Premium strings are specifically designed to be strung using a low tension stringing process.  The JET method is the recommended process for optimizing these strings.  This method is proprietary.  Individual training and certification will be provided to authorized L-TEC resellers who are interested in learning and using this method with their customers.  We will post a list of stringers trained in the JET method on this site.

Home stringers can take heart in knowing that some of the key elements of the process can be learned here.  The overall goal is to use low tensions and STABILIZE the stringbed so that it will maintain playing characteristics for an extended period of time.

Key elements for stringing L-TEC strings at low tensions.

1.  Never pre-stretch copoly strings.

2.  Use the slowest pull speed on your electronic constant pull machine.  Overshooting tension and pulling too fast can damage the string causing it not to hold tension and playability.  Managing tension properly on a lock-out machine or an electronic constant pull machine without ability to adjust the speed of the pull is not always possible.  The best low-cost option for stringing machines is the Stringway ML 100 or MS 200.

3.  When pulling tension on the mains and crosses allow the string to remain under tension for at least 5 - 10 seconds before clamping off.

(Consider reading the GGT Extra blog entry on stringing at low tensions)

Recommended Starting Tensions

L-TEC strings are specifically designed to offer optimum playability at lower tensions.  We do not recommend stringing higher than 52 lbs.

As a general guide; when using a midplus frame with a 16 x 19 pattern we have had success with a reference tension of 44 pounds.  The same size frame with an 18 x 20 pattern does well with 40 pounds as a starting point.  Again, these suggested tensions are not set in stone, they are meant to be a guide.

Guide to L-TEC Premium performance levels related to the installation method.

Rock Solid - L-TEC strings installed by an experienced stringer using the techniques described above.

Awesome - L-TEC strings installed by an approved facility or stringer who has been specifically trained in ways to optimize the performance of these strings.

Legendary - L-TEC strings installed by Guts and Glory Tennis or any reseller who has been fully certified in the JET Concept.
